There has been a significant rise in anti-semitism in the UK recently, as well is in mainland Europe.
Finally one of the main political parties had to suspend a few of their Members of Parliament due to their anti-semitic positions.
I cannot understand this hatred of another religion for no obvious reason. As someone who is very pro-Israel, I cannot understand why it gets picked on so much in the UN and on campuses across the world.
Howard Jacobson explains why. A real eye-opener and fascinating to listen to.

My Rabbi Is Tougher Than Your Rabbi
English: rabbi Shmuel rabinovitz Rabbi of the Western wall with Rabbi Shmuel Deutch (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Despite the fact that Israel has a highly motivated and, sadly, highly active. army, the link between 'Rabbi' and 'Ultimate Warrior' has been lacking. Until now:
A California rabbi stepped into the cage for his first amateur MMA bout recently and won via TKO in the second round, according to FOX News (via The Algemeiner). Yossi Eilfort began training just six months ago under former UFC fighter Thierry Sokoudjou and said he never hit anyone in the face before.
His goal was to promote self-defense and fitness in the Orthodox Jewish community. Eilfort wanted the “physical, personal, mental challenge” -- not to injure someone.
“I believe if we’re not challenging ourselves, then we’re wasting time,” Eilfort said.
“I believe if we’re not challenging ourselves, then we’re wasting time,” Eilfort said.
Yeah, my Rabbi can DEFINITELY beat up your Rabbi!

Happy Passover
Its been a busy few weeks here, President Obama came to visit, and its always nice to have guests! Spring is on its way too, which has caused some very 'interesting' weather - last Friday we reached 88F and this Friday? Rain. Yup. We're all discombibulated.
So we're at that time of year again. Passover! We clean the house, as best we can, and get ready for more days outside, and less days huddled around the radiators.
Herewith, 2 videos extolling the Passover Festival.
Have a nice day now, y'all.

Those Zionist trousers
Ian O'Doherty, in the Irish Independent, takes note of the Gaza Mall:
In 1947, Arabs from Palestine who dared break the Arab boycott against Palestinian Jews were subject to firebombs and murders. When will we see calls from some ideological moron from Olympia, WA to punish the Gazans for helping the Israeli economy?
And thus endeth the rant.

Gaza is, we're (un)reliably informed, the world's largest open-air prison. Indeed, in some of the more excitable circles of the anti-Israeli lobby, it's often referred to as a concentration camp; an analogy so obnoxious that it doesn't even merit mention. It is amusing that the BDS'ers have been silent about how Gazans are so happy to have Israeli goods available to them again, after years of being stuck with crap from their fellow Egyptian Arabs.
And in a flyer for a fundraising gig organised by the Irish Anti-War Movement (they're not really anti-war, just anything to do with the Yanks and Israel), they said: "Since the Israeli attack in December 2009, which killed over 1,400, the people of Gaza have been suffering the worst conditions ever. Israel's continuous siege of Gaza and blockade of humanitarian aid makes even the basic necessities such as school material for children, medical supplies etc an impossibility (sic)..."
How terrible. But the Gazans have one thing to look forward to -- they opened a giant, fully stocked shopping mall this week.
And among the delights on offer are, according to its website: "air conditioning, a parking lot, security guards, a full service supermarket and a food court."
It also boasts: "Israeli trousers at reasonable prices."
So, you can hate the evil Zionist pig-dog entity that will soon disappear if Allah has his way (praise be upon him) but, in fairness, the Jews make comfy chinos, so we'll make an exception.
But just this once, mind.

Fed Up With Being Bashed About
I don't like bullies. I don't like liars. I really don't like being on the receiving end from either. Shocking really.
Someone who also doesn't like being rallied against is Amy. She received abuse from a friend of a friend on Facebook and decided to fight back on her husband's blog 'Fighting for Liberty'.
Some quotes from her essay:

Someone who also doesn't like being rallied against is Amy. She received abuse from a friend of a friend on Facebook and decided to fight back on her husband's blog 'Fighting for Liberty'.
Some quotes from her essay:
In the late 1800s, some Jews began looking for a solution to the violent Judeophobia (I prefer this term to “anti-Semitism”) in Europe that they had been enduring for centuries. (Concise timelines of Judeophobia are here and here.) It was obvious to people like Theodor Herzl that the Jews needed their own land where they would no longer be persecuted. (Examples of brutal, racist treatment can be seen here and here.) Jews bought more land in Palestine (whenever possible – many Palestinians refused to sell land to Jews), and Russian Jews immigrated there to flee the waves of pogroms, increasing the Jewish presence in Palestine, even before the British issued the Balfour Declaration in 1917. However, the British also promised the land to the Arabs, and had separately made a deal with France to make Palestine internationally controlled. The Arabs revolted against the British (killing Jews as well, just for good measure) in 1936. Although the Arabs weren’t successful in kicking out non-Arabs, this revolt started some cultural shifts – namely, increased hostilities between Arabs and Jews (two groups whose ancient histories had been intertwined in this area for thousands of years), and Britain revoked their promise to give land in Palestine to the Jews.Well done Amy! For the rest of the essay click here
You say the Israelis are brutal and racist. However, I think you are seeing only the ugliness of war on one side. It is ugly on both sides. The Israelis did not start the war. On May 15, 1948, just one day after the independent state of Israel was created, six Arab nations declared war on Israel. The war could have been avoided if the Palestinians had agreed to the U.N.-proposed two-state proposal. And still, the war could end at any time if they would agree to a two-state proposal.
