The King of Video Ads

I work in internet advertising. Yes, I get paid to watch YouTube, go on Facebook, LinkedIn and Google all day long. A tough life, but someone has to live it!

Anyway, I came across this amazing video the other day, espoused by many as the pinnacle of video advertising (oh, and it may not be fir for watching at work or at home);

What do you think? Did it make you thirsty?

What An E-commerce Website Shouldn't Look Like

I despise websites that make it nearly impossible to buy from them. I'm also lucky enough to work in a position where I can control my own clients' websites (to some degree) from becoming evil.
Image representing Google as depicted in Crunc...

Instead of showing you a variety of naff websites, I thought I'd show you how Google sees websites that just don't help users. Their explanations are great and should be shared to the world!*

Bing booboo

I recently received an email from Bing inviting me to 'Be one of the first to try out the new Bing'.

Very nice! Maybe they're ready to fight Google for search engine presence, maybe its a revolution that's going to rock the internet. Facebook IPO?

This might be just the announcement to knock the multi-billion dollar Facebook off headline news.

So I click on the link, anticipating a change that'll knock my socks off.

Oh yeah baby. Here we go.

The revolution is here.

Google is going to be toppled!

Silly buggers!

Oh well, back to trustworthy and reliable google.com

Google - really? I'm that thick?

Oy! Google!!

Cut it out. Okay, I get it, you have access to my email, my photos and videos and even some of my purchases around the interwebs but now you are just taking the mickey.

As you may know I work in a Google environment. I love Google and all that they stand for. Google circles? Still getting my head around that one but otherwise, Google me blue, red, yellow and green.

But stop!

What is this?

I'm in the back end of a website doing statistical analysis of their traffic and you feel I need to know what an iPad looks like? And even if I didn't know, how will the look of a device help my analysis?

Yes Google, I love you dearly, but you caught me on a bad day.

Dancing Google Logo

In all honesty I was just wowed that the Google logo on their search site was dancing. It blew my mind.

I work in the Internet Environment (sounds flashy eh?) and I was still impessed.

Enjoy my quick screen-shot capturing of the event for you.

Oh, and well done Martha Graham on reaching 117 years young!

Busting an iPhone thief

I read this story a while ago and was very impressed it on a variety of levels.

The ingenious use of Google Earth and the iPhone applications themselves to find the thief just blew me away!

I think you'll like you'll enjoy the story too;

Lucky Thirteen - a short story

I read a fair bit. Not just the contents of Google Reader but a newspaper every morning and for 30 - 60 miuntes I read a novel in bed every night.

Recently I have started reading more new authors and I can assure you that as soon as Marko Kloos' novel is out I'll be buying it.

The link to his latest short story 'Lucky Thirteen' is HERE. I found it very interesting, exciting and believable. Definitely worth a read - now.

What are you waiting for? Click here and read the story. You're reading this blog so why not click here and read Lucky Thirteen NOW?? You'll thank me for it I'm sure.

What are your thoughts on the story?

An open letter to Blogger

Dear Blogger,

Thank you very much for giving so many of us the opportunity to share our feelings, findings and photos with the world at large. I have made new friends, found old friends as well as expanded my mind with your great product BUT why oh why is it so darned difficult to work with?

My award winning and tear jerking posting of last night 'My Brain Beat Me' should have been an easy thing to preview in Google Reader, something like this:

But instead it looked like this;

"Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";..."

Which was rather disappointing as even though it is nonsensical I did in fact not write it.

I spent over 4 minutes writing the post in question, and over 12 minutes thinking about it. Please send me 16 minutes so that I can feel better about Blogger after this controversial and insulting episode. (We know you can do that, you're owned by Google for crying out loud!)

And whilst you're at it please add a YouTube button (also owned by Google) allowing us bloggers easier access to YouTube videos. And a workable retweet button would be useful. And presents, send me presents because I like them.

Oops I feel the meds beginning to kick in...
