Nazis in New York

Whats that you say? Nazis in New York? You provocative little tyke Jumblerant! There were never any Nazis in New York! We'd have seen them marching in Manhattan.

As the renowned author Bill Bryson explained in his novel "Made in America: An Informal History of the English Language in the United States" there was a coin-toss between America being English speaking and German speaking - yes, it was that close!

So I wasn't surprised when footage surfaced of the forgotten 1939 Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden, where a Jewish protester was beaten and stripped as a speaker on stage called for a 'white, gentile-ruled USA'. You know, as you do...

Oh look, it's George Washington, the American flag and a swastika. And that would be at Madison Square Gardens.

And it wasn't just a handful of guys, there were 20,000 of them!

According to the Daily Mail, in the article "Revealed: The shocking and forgotten 1939 Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden, where a Jewish protester was beaten and stripped as a speaker on stage called for a 'white, gentile-ruled USA"

On February 20, 1939, some 20,000 American fascists gathered in New York City for a 'pro-American rally'
Organized by the German American Bund, it mocked 'Jewish media' and demanded America be run by whites
At the back of the stage, a 30-foot George Washington painting stood next to Nazi swastika-laden banners
Crowds gave the American flag Nazi salutes, and at the end stood for The Star-Spangled Banner
A Jewish plumber's helper stormed the stage and was beaten up by Nazis and arrested and fined by police
At the time, Nazism was accepted as part of the national debate and rich celebrities supported Nazi ideals
Only with America's entry into the Second World War did the public's attitudes towards fascism change

So there you go. Nazis have been in America before, and they seem to be around there again.

I Ain't No Musician

These new spaces are designed to be flexible.

So I just heard about this exceptionally talented musician from our talented chums over at Pomplamoose. They will be / have already opened for him as he tours the US of A.

You want genius? Because you can't handle this genius!

Yes he did. He took the potent, sexually laced phrase 'These new spaces are designed to be flexible' and made it into an upbeat song.

Wow. Just wow!

Scammers Get Scammed

So there is a little known scam whereby call centers in foreign countries call random people in the USA, leave a message stating that they are the IRS and demand that they call them back or face jail.

So an anonymous tech vigilante has set himself on a quest to prevent these scammers from working.
He wrote a bot(-net) that will call the scammers' phone lines a bazillion times from different numbers, thus preventing them from receiving any real calls.

LOVE IT!

The scammer has started a patreon fund so that he can be helped with the costs involved. No, this is not a scam! https://www.patreon.com/ProjectMayhem

All of his videos for the scammers - https://www.youtube.com/user/ncamp611/videos

This scam has already come to the attention of the police;

Enjoy and stay safe ;-)

Success Breeds Success - 3 Billion

Its getting close but not there yet. What am I talking about? The official video from the Furious 7 soundtrack.

At time of going to press it was at 2,902,472,946 views (ish);

'Gangnam Style' by PSY, was launched 4 years ago and has just 5 million less views. As I mentioned back in 2014, Gangnam Style Breaks YouTube,  and FYI, it is still a very catchy tune:

Justin Bieber comes third with his single 'Sorry' with only 300 million less, although it should be noted that the video is for a music single, not a movie, nor for a tribute to a dead actor. As I am not a teenage girl I am not qualified to judge Justin's talents, sufficed to say, 'well done young man'. Oh, and he isn't even in the video!

Which is a mere 300 million more than Maroon 5's 'Sugar' ;

So I guess we can conclude that music is the reason most people flock to YouTube. YouTube is wanted more for it's audio than it's video - interesting, very interesting!

Jackie Chan is Back

I do love Jackie Chan.

Humble, yet talented, this demure Hong Kong native is a martial artist, actor, film director, producer, stuntman, and apparently a singer too!

He is back in a new film that, again, changes what we now about him:

Some of his best fight scenes can be seen here - and yes, they're scorchers!!

What is unique about Jackie Chan is that he is funny, sometimes laugh out loud funny, as this Conan O'Brien in 1999:

Tom Hanks presents Jackie Chan with his Honorary Oscar, the Governor's Award;

TV Shows to Watch, Summer 2017

Le Mans: Racing Is Everything is a behind the scenes look at what is possibly the most famous, and hardest car race in the world. Excellent access, interesting views and Amazon TV's easy access this is a must watch for any 'petrol-head out there.

Sadly the commentary is staid and somewhat condescending, but if you can overlook that, it is a family fun watch.

Preacher. Oh my fricking Lord, Preacher is coming back. One of the most interesting and fun TV shows I have seen this decade is coming back for a second season.

Preacher is a US television series based on a DC Comics series called Preacher. This was created by two of my favorite artists - Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. The show is an incredible genre mix, with elements of drama, black comedy, supernatural and horror all present. The series premiered in May 2016 with a 10-episode season.

The basic story is that of a Preacher with issues who is taking over a parish, whilst performing miracles by using black magic. I think. It gets confusing. It is always fun though!

Game of Thrones. Season 7. Need I say more?

Falling for the Fake?

We all root for the underdog, even more so when life has thrown them a curve ball or two.

This past week on America's Got Talent (AGT) a singer received top marks for singing a song.

As cynical as I am, I think this is real. Do you?

When else do we root so hard for the underdog? On AGT it looks like that is the case. Simon seems to like them.

Looking Backwards and Forwards

There is a new TV series coming out by, and starring Seth MacFarlane, the genius behind Family Guy, Ted and American Dad! It is called The Orville and is about a Star Trek kind of comedy.

And then there is the Fry & Laurie Reunited clip.

Stephen Fry - National Treasure
Hugh Laurie - Dr Gregory House

Going further back, I present to you, Mr Rogers: The Discussion and yes, it did speak to me!

Movies To Look Forward to in 2017

Wow. 2017 looks like it's going to be an awesome one for the cinema:

Martin Scorsese has a new film coming out. 2 young women in a small town realise that they are not who... NOT! Its a shoot 'em up, in a warehouse, in 1978?

Baby Driver

Edgar Wright is the director and writer behind The Cornetto Trilogy - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and World's End - which if you haven't watched, you should.

He has created a new action movie, which would be my number 1 choice, if it had Mr Pegg in it. Which it doesn't.

However, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx are in it so it will still be awesome!

Dunkirk:

Britain's answer to the German invasion of France was to launch the British Expeditionary Force. After the First World War, being a regular member of the British Army was looked down upon. Funding for the army was cut dramatically to lower than pre-war numbers and overall, it was a bad place to be.

So an unprepared army going into a foreign country, under-funded, under-equipped and badly led. What could possibly go wrong?

Then there is the much awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2.

Baby Groot. Star-Lord. Gamora. Subtle Drax. Yondu.

Frickin' awesome.

Enjoy - and let me know what you're looking forward to.

Acquiring a Pair of Brown Trousers

Just outside of Hurricane City, Utah, the driver of the truck you see in the lower left lost control of his vehicle. The pick-up was traveling at roughly 75 miles an hour when it broke through the guardrail in the upper right (if you look closely, it's where the group of people are standing), flipping end over end, bouncing off and across the culvert outlet you see in the center of the photo.

The truck ended up on the left side of the culvert, facing the opposite direction from which it had been traveling originally.

The driver and his passenger were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises.

All of this would be astounding in and of itself, because damn, son,  you flipped your truck OVER a fucking culvert and around backwards and lived to tell the tale! Except when you pan out.....

This was back in 2006, but as it's the first time I have come across it, I thought I'd share.

The Santa Clarita Diet

Great news! Timothy Olyphant is back on our screens. He of stardom from one of the greatest TV shows of the decade, Justified. He is starring with an actress new to our screens, a certain Drew Blyth Barrymore. I believe she has had a part to play in certain films such as E.T. and 50 First Dates.

The background story is 'Mom is now addicted to human flesh'. A simple enough story as seen in their new TV show 'The Santa Clarita Diet'.

Finally a TV show I can watch with the wife!

Let me know if you enjoy it too.

I'm Only Human After All

My socks have well and truly been blown off.

Driving to work one day i heard this song and really liked it. Throughout the day I kept singing the chorus and realised that I wanted to know more about it. So, OK Google to the rescue!

'OK Google' I said, 'i'm only human after all, put the blame on me'. Within seconds the YouTube video of the song came onto my phone. I pushed the big triangle and had the song blaring through my speakers in seconds. Awesome.

That wasn't what blew my socks off, that just impressed me greatly.

The song was sung with such confidence and such simplicity as well as gentleness, that I had assumed, and that is where the mistake began, that it was a famous American soul singer who I just hadn't heard before. The video above proved me very, very wrong.

Then I researched Rag'n'Bone man a bit more and was utterly floored by the power and subtlety in some of his songs:

Definitely an artiste who i will be following closely!

How President Trump Won The Election

Jumblerant's Rules of Politics:

1. All politicians are lying scumbags
2. All politicians are arrogant, narcissistic windbags
3. All politicians are money grabbing fools

There, got that out of the way. Having said all of that, there is a lot to be learnt by Mrs Clinton's failure to get elected. Back on March 11th 2016,  a long post was put up on Imgur about how Mr Trump had already won the election by using Tsun Tsu's tactics from his book The Art of War.

Here is the post:

Two weeks ago I hit the front page with a neutral explanation on how Donald Trump is actually a master tactician by using 'The Art of War'.

Well... Trump may have just pulled off his biggest political maneuver yet! We're going full-blown conspiracy now, so hold onto your butts!!

*Full Disclaimer: What you will see below may or may not be true. I'm only illustrating Trump's potential master craft, nothing else.*

Trump's first speech purposefully called out Mexicans as criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. This lead him to being mocked by the GOP as a "joke candidate". Trump baited his opponents by doubling down and making Trump's wall the number one issue of the primary election. His stance on illegal immigration forced all other GOP candidates to start one step back, and for Trump to set the pace moving forward.

Trump continued to hold out baits throughout his campaign (Mexico will pay for the wall, will he/won't he run independent, blood coming out of "wherever", barring Muslims, Hillary getting schlonged,  and now "Islam hates us") to feign disorder.

He then double downs every time, saying things like "No border, no country", "The wall will be 10 feet higher", or "bringing in Muslims brings in terrorists".

Notice how fast each of Trump's "wacko" statements are superseded by another? That's because each time Trump is attacked, his core voters feel attacked. The more his opponents attack him, the more flabergasted they become in seeing nothing stick.

Trump wants to be attacked because he already set his opponents up in a position of weakness right out of the opening gate. His opponents are just playing catch-up, which continually puts them further behind and perceived as "low energy".

Trump knows who he is, and of the five remaining opponents, none of them know Trump. You can see it in what they say about Trump. They liken him to being mentally unstable, a bigot, a racist, a buffoon, or even Hitler. Trump is none of these, and to say he is demonstrates how they've already lost.

His opponents have yet to take Trump seriously. Even today Ted Cruz said that Trump's voters are "uninformed". Mitt Romney last week called Trump's supporters "played for suckers". No one has yet to figure Trump out, not because he's too crazy, but because he's too clever. You can't just laugh him off.

Trump has been planning this since at least the late 1980s. All he had to do was bide his time and wait for the right political climate. Not even the political party he ran for mattered, that's why he's running as a Republican since it's the easiest path to victory. He has no allegiance to either party, which only serves to benefit his message.

Trump's greatest strength is in dismantling his opponents. Jeb Bush's fall from grace was a master stroke by Trump. Trump has long since dismantled his #1 rival through a continuous barrage of perfect pin prick attacks.

You may have missed it, but it was one of the greatest American political maneuverings of all-time.

Trump is no fool. Everyone says "Trump has no plans, no platform", but everything he has said has been by design. Everything from here on out will be by design.

Yesterday Hillary said: "If I'm running against Trump there's plenty of time to come up with a plan before the general election". You cannot plan against Trump. Neither Hillary nor Bernie will have a plan.

There is no political strategy to beat him. The only way Trump loses is by you the people creating a movement of voters, one that can beat Trump's ever rapidly insurmountable fan base.

At the current rate Trump will be President, because he already has a 30 year head start.

EDIT: The protests tonight only serve to feed the Trump Train. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi:

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Welcome to stage 3 folks.
