Miley Cyrus, Oh Yeah!

As you are no doubt aware, I do love listening to a bit of Miley. It's pop music but with a bite. Her latest single is Flowers. Sounds simple enough, but it's just a rip into her ex-husband and how he was such a fool.

The song basically refutes, in verse, the song that he allegedly played for her often, When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars.

So imagine my delight when my favorite indie band, Pomplamoose, did a mashup of the 2!! Perfecto. And it really is very good.

I like to think that the somewhat arrogant and overbearing organ and guitar at the end is just the band reiterating just what Miley thinks of her ex.

I mean, Pomplamoose has done some awesome music

And my favorite is with the amazingly talented Dodie

And yes, I have written about Pomplamoose before;

Dodie. Awesome

In the past I've spoken about musicians breaking the mold in the past, such as Pomplamoose and OK GO

She really does have a beautiful aura I hope she'll realise all her dreams ;-) Good luck Dodie

And she's from Epping - near where I grew up so, yeah, supporting local art too.

I Ain't No Musician

These new spaces are designed to be flexible.

So I just heard about this exceptionally talented musician from our talented chums over at Pomplamoose. They will be / have already opened for him as he tours the US of A.

You want genius? Because you can't handle this genius!

Yes he did. He took the potent, sexually laced phrase 'These new spaces are designed to be flexible' and made it into an upbeat song.

Wow. Just wow!

Recognisable Music

I've written before about music I adore, such as the great folks over at Pomplamoose, and OKGO!, so I thought I'd share my latest experience with you.

Working in a relatively open plan office I inevitably find myself wearing thick headphones when I need to focus on something. I had some reports to write so put them on and cranked up Grooveshark and decide to listen to some classical music. A good channel called 'Instrumental FM - Music to Study, Work and Relax' had in the past been a good way to block out the background noise without the distraction of catchy tunes or new music.

Suddenly I stopped working and realised that I knew the tune being played. It wasn't the theme tune to Game of Thrones, nor was it a Pomplamoose album as there were no words.

And then it hit me, being played by no less than the London Philharmonic Orchestra:

Playing Catch Up

Since I last blogged a few fun things have happened:

Pomplamoose released their interpretation of James Brown's 'I Feel Good', which is pretty awesome, with an even more stunning video.

My favourite April Fool's joke did the rounds - and with 26 million views, I guess I'm not alone in liking it!

More Pomplamoose Magic

Back in November (yeah 2013, that seems so long ago doesn't it?) I wrote about Pomplamoose's latest  music video so imagine my surprise when hi-tech guru site Mashable blogged about Pomplamoose's next video which I hadn't even seen yet!

English: Mashable.com logo as of late 2008

More Pomplamoose Musical Magic

The chaps over at Pomplamoose have made some great music videos in the past, and yet again they have bested themselves. Their latest offering isn't an action grabbing extravaganza like OkGo's ghillie suit clad trombonists, and yet it is memorable in it's own way.

What impresses me most is not actually the music, which in itself is great, but it is the talent, artistry and forward thinking that goes into the video.

Suit & Tie

Pomplamoose is a pretty amazing band, I've blogged about their greatness before.

Nataly Dawn, their singer has just been on tour where she was not only the Starbucks Singer of the week:

Her tour was sponsored by Hyundai. Can you see the subtle product placement in this video?

My favorite tune and video is still 'Love Me The Way You Do';

I do enjoy me some new music, and Pomplamoose is one of my fave new bands. I've written about them when they did a great cover of Angry Birds music.

And here they are again, showing just what great musicians and indeed, actors and dancers, they are as they begin the change from popular music to electronic:

What do you think?

And if you go and look at the old videos you'll see how Jack changes his style...

Angry Birds & Pomplamoose

As I mentioned on this very blog back in November 2009, in the brief yet interesting post Put your ears back and listen I like cover bands and I especially like Pomplamoose.

I also like me a little bit of Angry Birds on my iPhone.

Image representing Angry Birds as depicted in ...Image via CrunchBaseIts all harmless murder of innocent pigs with a catapult and a variety of birds as ammunition.

Yeah. That didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.

Anyway, Pomplamoose are a great cover duo, so good in fact that I have included a variety of their offerings below.

Enjoy!
