Dodie. Awesome

In the past I've spoken about musicians breaking the mold in the past, such as Pomplamoose and OK GO

She really does have a beautiful aura I hope she'll realise all her dreams ;-) Good luck Dodie

And she's from Epping - near where I grew up so, yeah, supporting local art too.

Newcomers in Music

Much has been made of the new music scene emerging in the USA today; there is too much pornography in the videos, too much swearing in the lyrics and, basically, 'kids today...'.

Personally I think it is awesome that no-one pays attention to what the old fuddy-duddys say! On the other hand, I like my swearing to be limited and based on thumbs and hammers meeting, not an every day occurrence!

Here is Kaya Stewart's single, Try It Out:

Greg Holden's Boys In The Street

Awesome, eh?

Go - OK Go - Go!

Technology and it's impact on us, as a human race, has been the basis for my last few posts, both in how it is improving our lives (below), and how it might be killing us off too, but here is technology used for no other purpose than make an epic (and I use that word advisedly) music video.

OK Go is a pop group that I have been following since their first video way back when. Now they have not only used cutting edge technology in their video, in this case with Honda branded self stabilising unicycles, but they have used a drone to do the filming!

The artistry and imagination needed by so many people to not only make it work, but work so well, shows us all that not only is OK Go a band to follow, but restores my faith in the music industry!

Go - OK Go - Go!

Oh, and after 1 day of going online, they have over 4,452,000 views. That is pretty amazing in anyone's books.

New Music

After my post 'I'm British', a few weeks ago, I decided to find more music by Dr. Elemental. This led me down a path of knowledge and understanding that brought me, in a mess of smiles, to be listening to this catchy tune.

Do you recognise the underlying tune? - Yes, it made me grin as well!.

I do enjoy me some new music, and Pomplamoose is one of my fave new bands. I've written about them when they did a great cover of Angry Birds music.

And here they are again, showing just what great musicians and indeed, actors and dancers, they are as they begin the change from popular music to electronic:

What do you think?

And if you go and look at the old videos you'll see how Jack changes his style...

Thar be pirates - oooh aar

I have an MP3 player, I have an iTouch, my wife has an MP3 player and we were seriously considering getting one for our 13 month old baby.

The truth of the matter is that I have not actually bought a CD or music online for years. Maybe 5 years. All of the music I have on either of my digital music players is from discs I bought in the beginning of the century or stuff I downloaded of the interweb in the last year or two.

Arrrgh! | PiratesHave I caused the downfall of the music industry? Probably..... not. Have you and i together created a huge vacuum where their bank balances used to be? Highly unlikely.

What is the real effect of piracy on the music industry, a world wide business of over $60 BILLION a year??

Oddee has the answer - go there, or here, or here, to find out the who's, whats, whys and wherefore of piracy's effect on the music industry.
