Dodie. Awesome

In the past I've spoken about musicians breaking the mold in the past, such as Pomplamoose and OK GO

She really does have a beautiful aura I hope she'll realise all her dreams ;-) Good luck Dodie

And she's from Epping - near where I grew up so, yeah, supporting local art too.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Let us all get ready for a bit of Freddy.

The subject matter is such a classic and yet also controversial figure that this film will really need to walk on a tightrope to get the audience behind it.

Whats not to love? Freddie Mercury's life story. A great man, a great singer and a great band. But that is just it, he means so much to so many people that just portraying him will cause many die-hard fans to have a conniption!

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.

I Ain't No Musician

These new spaces are designed to be flexible.

So I just heard about this exceptionally talented musician from our talented chums over at Pomplamoose. They will be / have already opened for him as he tours the US of A.

You want genius? Because you can't handle this genius!

Yes he did. He took the potent, sexually laced phrase 'These new spaces are designed to be flexible' and made it into an upbeat song.

Wow. Just wow!

You May Not Mean To Hurt Me (But You Do)

I'm not the most musically enabled person on the planet. In fact, in my family we joke that my aunt, who is an opera teacher, got all of the family's singing ability and left us with nothing.

My father and me singing together is so bad that when we do decide to do so, we need to stand in different corners of the room for fear of ear drums popping. At best!

This is some music I like, and I can get behind, without singing myself! Made by a friend of a friend I think that this song is going to go far. What do you think?

New Music

After my post 'I'm British', a few weeks ago, I decided to find more music by Dr. Elemental. This led me down a path of knowledge and understanding that brought me, in a mess of smiles, to be listening to this catchy tune.

Do you recognise the underlying tune? - Yes, it made me grin as well!.

Have you ever heard of the band Axis Awesome? Neither had I.

Then a friend sent me this video that got me hooked on their comedy.

So i looked into them a tad more and found this;.

And this too;

Great stuff.

The kids of today

Not like in my day when we had marching bands and ghillie suits. Oh wait, that can't be right....

But they did bring us the internet classic which has over 51,444,817 hits with them dancing all over treadmills.

As well as this great music video - beats the bollards out of Micheal Jackson multi-million dollar videos.

Thar be pirates - oooh aar

I have an MP3 player, I have an iTouch, my wife has an MP3 player and we were seriously considering getting one for our 13 month old baby.

The truth of the matter is that I have not actually bought a CD or music online for years. Maybe 5 years. All of the music I have on either of my digital music players is from discs I bought in the beginning of the century or stuff I downloaded of the interweb in the last year or two.

Arrrgh! | PiratesHave I caused the downfall of the music industry? Probably..... not. Have you and i together created a huge vacuum where their bank balances used to be? Highly unlikely.

What is the real effect of piracy on the music industry, a world wide business of over $60 BILLION a year??

Oddee has the answer - go there, or here, or here, to find out the who's, whats, whys and wherefore of piracy's effect on the music industry.

I'm meant to be the one ranting

The idea of this blog is to bring you, the gentle and highly intelligent genius that you are, a few of the interesting things I find out there on the interweb.

Tanker over at Mostly Cajun, All American and Opinionated, has this juicy rant about, guess what? Yeah, 'kids today'. Have fun!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning…. Uphill… Barefoot… BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda....

MGBGTAnd I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don’t know how good you’ve got it! ....

There were no MP3’s or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!...
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning...

The whole outrageous rant is here.
