I've never been skinny, even when I did extreme manual labour when I worked on a farm and ate only fruit and veg. Now, as I enter my 5th decade on earth I find that I need to decrease my belly to that of a normal human, so more exercise, less food and I'll get there.
But what is a chubby hubby to do? I don't have much time as we have 2 kids under 5 and I can't really allow myself to pay for a gym.
And then I found Neila Rey and that was a game changer.
I can see myself doing a Neila Rey exercise regime, 3 or 4 times a week, after the kids have gone to sleep in the computer room with a Formula 1 race or crappy comedy on the computer, and not have to worry about running into doggy-doo or a reversing car as I do out there, on the street.
The 90 days of action is my poison of choice, and I don't follow it religiously, but I do what I can, when I can. So go on over to Neila Rey's website and see what the options are to make your life better, and longer.

Losing Weight The Easy Way
As anyone who knows me will tell you when describing your humble Jumblerant blogger, 'he ain't no skinny'.
Recently I have gotten into a good workout routine, gym 3-5 days a week, and not just for the free hot showers!Weights and jogging are my thing, more weights, than jogging as I have never really been a runner. I have good friends who do triathlons and even Iron Man events.
As a result of all of my friends getting healthy / working out their mid life crises, I was very happy to see that one of my favourite authors and bloggers - Bayou Renaissance Man - had a new fitness video up on his site.

Triathlon races vary in distance. According to the International Triathlon Union, and USA Triathlon, the main international race distances are:
- Sprint Distance; 750 meter (.465 mi) swim, 20 kilometer (12.5 mi) bike, 5 kilometer (3.1 mi) run
- Intermediate (or Standard) distance; commonly referred to as the "Olympic distance": 1.5 kilometer (.93 mi) swim, 40 kilometer (25 mi) bike, 10 kilometer (6.2 mi) run
- Long Course; commonly referred to as 70.3 or the 'half-Ironman'; 1.9 kilometer (1.2 mi) swim, 90 kilometer (56 mi) bike, and a 21.1 kilometer (13.1 mi) run
- Ultra Distance; commonly referred to as 140.6 or the 'Ironman'; 3.8 kilometer (2.4 mi) swim, 180.2 kilometer (112 mi) bike, and a full marathon: 42.2 kilometer (26.2 mi) run.

Burning Calories
I sit in my office cubicle, drinking my warm cup coffee and nibbling on my Special Tea biscuits, when up pops a youtube video I haven't seen for a while but remember well.
It must have left a good impression on me if I remember it from just the halfway picture. And then the penny drops, its of a young chap who trekked a few thousand kilometers across China and took a photo of himself every day.
Now that's some determination!

I beat my wife to get healthy
My sister and I are fighters.
As kids, whenever someone attacked either of us we would back each other to the hilt. When there was no-one else to battle we fought amongst ourselves, also, in a very energetic way. Its only my sister and I, although we did have a dog for a good many years, we are very close and there are many similarities between us (my sister and I, not the dog and I).
In fact when my sister and I chat to each other, even in front of our parents, we speak so fast and in such an Essex accent that no-one can understand us.
We also have something else in common - obesity. I haven't seen my sister in a few months but I do know that we are both on the heavy side.
She has 7 kids and a husband to clean up after, runs a community center and helps out at a variety of charities as often as she can. This leaves her very little time to look after herself.
Me? I like eating chocolate and have an aversion to sport.
Back in April I started using my trusty pedometer, in fact its the Omron Walking Style II (below) and I recommend it to everyone.
A pedometer measures the amount of steps you take whilst wearing it. Different health organisations agree that taking over 10,000 steps a day is highly beneficial to your health. My sister has yet to purchase a pedometer but hopefully after this little blog she will do so.
Mrs. Jumblerant recently bought a pedometer, exactly the same as mine, and challenged me to an interesting competition. Whoever has the most paces at the end of each day gets to stay in bed in the morning when our 8 month old baby boy wakes up! My kind of challenge.
To add to the fun I also picked up on a challenge by fellow blogger Treppenwitz to his readers to log their steps, for free, at Walker Tracker. I have a rather green widget near the top of this blog if you want to go there and have a look.
Anyway, its a no frills competition normally. I even started 2 competitions this month in an effort to get back into walking myself thin. The winner gets bragging rights or something of an equal value, but it means that there are people out there helping you to walk more paces, push a bit harder and get a little bit healthier each day.
And that can't be a bad thing.
