There has been a significant rise in anti-semitism in the UK recently, as well is in mainland Europe.
Finally one of the main political parties had to suspend a few of their Members of Parliament due to their anti-semitic positions.
I cannot understand this hatred of another religion for no obvious reason. As someone who is very pro-Israel, I cannot understand why it gets picked on so much in the UN and on campuses across the world.
Howard Jacobson explains why. A real eye-opener and fascinating to listen to.

Colourful Semitism
Antisemitism is on the rise. Whether it is from the rocks and firebombs thrown in the Caucuses, the salutes of French comedians and soccer players or the ink from newspapers, it is all against the Jews.
No-one is surprised. There are no cries of 'leave the Jews alone'. I've written about it before here and here. That's fine. That's why Israel exists, you know like all other religions have their own country because they've been the recipients of hatred so much, like the Christians who have....sorry. The Muslims have...
Anyhoo, I was reading a few articles about the rise of antisemitism from such august bodies as The Guardian, The BBC, The New Statesman, The Jerusalem Post and of course, The Times of Israel and realized that if only the Jews had followed the more colorful of their ancestors, maybe the hatred wouldn't be so fanatical?
Over at Buzzfeed they have some great photographs of Russia in the early 20th Century from the Library of Congress, and I found this amazing image that would have made antisemitism nothing if not more colourful!

SodaStream and Hating Israel
There has been a lot of hate and anger sent against Israel in the last few months (years, decades...) but none has been as obviously anti-Semitic as the BDS (boycott, divest and sanctions) attitude to a Super Bowl advert this year.
Her amazing-ness the Scarlett of Johannsen has come forward as a spokesperson for a fizzy water maker. Big deal. Ah, but that fizzy water maker is made in Israel. Oy vey! Stop the harlot from selling their wares. Its despicable. Its not fair on the kids.
Anyway, the factory in Israel is actually very supportive of it's workers, the majority of whom happen to be Palestinian.

Iron Dome - The Video
I've been a tad busy recently what with there being a war in our neighborhood 'n all. That seems to be over for the near future, thankfully, but here is the real secret behind Israel's success. I don't want to sound all 'hippy' and such, but really, without this amazing piece of technology, Israel would have suffered many more fatalities and injuries than it did.

I'm Proud.. Kinda
I say it in my description above and I'm not ashamed of it - I live in Israel.

The mere fact that I think you might have a problem with me because of where I live actually speaks volumes itself.
And this Australian article really helps to explain it:

Anti-Semitism the real issue that dare not speak its name
A YEAR or two ago, I took a taxi from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. It was a brilliant sunny day and all around me the hills were green, as we passed a prosperous Arab village, a beautiful kibbutz, a bit of jangled traffic.
The taxi driver was English, an English Jew who had found a better life in Israel - better pay, less anti-Semitism, safer streets, an easy air commute to his daughter in England, but close to other relatives in Israel, and lots and lots of sunshine.

Fed Up With Being Bashed About
I don't like bullies. I don't like liars. I really don't like being on the receiving end from either. Shocking really.
Someone who also doesn't like being rallied against is Amy. She received abuse from a friend of a friend on Facebook and decided to fight back on her husband's blog 'Fighting for Liberty'.
Some quotes from her essay:

Some quotes from her essay:
In the late 1800s, some Jews began looking for a solution to the violent Judeophobia (I prefer this term to “anti-Semitism”) in Europe that they had been enduring for centuries. (Concise timelines of Judeophobia are here and here.) It was obvious to people like Theodor Herzl that the Jews needed their own land where they would no longer be persecuted. (Examples of brutal, racist treatment can be seen here and here.) Jews bought more land in Palestine (whenever possible – many Palestinians refused to sell land to Jews), and Russian Jews immigrated there to flee the waves of pogroms, increasing the Jewish presence in Palestine, even before the British issued the Balfour Declaration in 1917. However, the British also promised the land to the Arabs, and had separately made a deal with France to make Palestine internationally controlled. The Arabs revolted against the British (killing Jews as well, just for good measure) in 1936. Although the Arabs weren’t successful in kicking out non-Arabs, this revolt started some cultural shifts – namely, increased hostilities between Arabs and Jews (two groups whose ancient histories had been intertwined in this area for thousands of years), and Britain revoked their promise to give land in Palestine to the Jews.Well done Amy! For the rest of the essay click here
You say the Israelis are brutal and racist. However, I think you are seeing only the ugliness of war on one side. It is ugly on both sides. The Israelis did not start the war. On May 15, 1948, just one day after the independent state of Israel was created, six Arab nations declared war on Israel. The war could have been avoided if the Palestinians had agreed to the U.N.-proposed two-state proposal. And still, the war could end at any time if they would agree to a two-state proposal.

God Save The Queen
I love the Queen (I loved the Queen Mum even more). She brings a certain something to an otherwise bland and boring island off the tip of Europe.
Prince Phillip, her husband, is renowned for being xenophobic and generally racist. Which is odd for a Greek Prince living mainly in London.
Doubly odd as his mother is buried in Jerusalem, on the Mount of Olives, and is honored by the government of Israel as a righteous gentile as she sheltered a Jewish family in her house during the Second World War.
With mother-in-law buried in the capital and Prince P himself owning properties in Central Jerusalem why has the Queen never visited Israel?
A very interesting article in today's Jerusalem Post explains why. My question to you is this - is it basically anti-semitism or very strong pro-Arabian feelings that created this problem?
The article can be found here.
