Password Puzzle

mail, local banking, original bank account, work computer, work email, Google Analytics, AdWords, Webmaster tools, LinkedIn general, LinkedIn Ads, Facebook. CMS as work.

Gmail. iTunes. Office WiFi. Car.

Just a few of the passwords / pass codes that I need to remember in my every day life.

Between you and me (please don't tell the world) the majority of access passwords are written down on scraps of paper and then pinned to my wall, that way, if someone wants to break into my Google Ads account then not only do they need to have an insane desire to do so, but they need to be in my office too!

Generic passwords are not my thing. Using 'Password' as a password seems a bit silly to me. Phone numbers mixed with dates or names are probably the best way to go. Or zip codes.

So here is a nearly plausible scenario about a standard recovery password.

Enjoy!

The Dumbest Thing You Could Say

Seriously, there are some idiots out there, in my home country we call them 'muppets'. Over at Upworthy they have highlighted one particular fool who decided to go head to head with a Congresswoman about disability, and specifically, military disability.

An IRS contractor named Braulio Castillo hurt his foot playing football in military prep school. He never served in the actual military. Then one day, decades later, he used it to get preferred treatment in government contracts. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who lost both her legs and still could lose her arm from combat injuries, felt that this might just be a touch inappropriate. It gets amazing around 4:30.

Watch and learn.

Kudos and respect to the Congresswoman too.

Cody Lovaas - A Rising Star

A great new musician has hit the scene and this video really shows off his talents. I'll let the music excite you first, and then you can read his story!

Not the next Justin Bieber - he just doesn't have that sound.

Born in Dallas, but currently living in San Diego, he is all of 15, so unable to even drive a car!

After playing a handful of shows last summer he was invited to record an album for action-sports company Hurley, which let him use their i-house recording studios. The resulting album, Dropping In, was produced by Grammy-winner Alan Sanderson (Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Switchfoot). Lovaas wrote all nine songs.

Then in February, the high school freshman played before another San Diego pop star, Jason Mraz, at an open mic in a coffee house in Oceanside.

“We talked about surfing,” says Lovaas, about meeting Mraz. “He gave me some advice. He said when a song comes to you, always write it down or you’ll lose it.”

Then, two weeks later, Lovaas’s father got a surprise call from Bill Silva, the longtime San Diego promoter who is now based in L.A., where he oversees his concert-promotion firm and a management company that handles Mraz as a client.

“We went up to his office in West Hollywood,” says Lovaas. “We met his entire management staff.” Bill Silva Management has a staff of 12. Lovaas brought his guitar and played for Silva’s people. It went well. Silva agreed to manage him.

To many people. Lovaas’s songwriting style is reminiscent of Jack Johnson. His emotion-dripped vocals bring comparisons to Adele and his youth and fresh-faced appeal evoke comparisons to Justin Bieber, and both Silva and his new artist don’t want that.

“We’re not looking to make him the next Justin Bieber,” says Civia Caroline, director of marketing for Bill Silva Management. “We are aware that he’s 14. We don’t want to create something that he’s not.”

 Good luck Cody!

'Hit and Run' or 'Run and Hit'?

Over at MArooned, Jay G. shares with us a great video about a hit and run. Its an interesting one for me as the events as they happened illicit different ideas from me whenever I put them into different scenarios.

Here is the video, and don't forget to read the questions underneath after you've seen the whole thing (its fun to see the last 10 seconds - trust me!).

1. If you were the driver of the black SUV - just how scared would you be?
1a. If this wasn't Chicago but let's say, Jerusalem, or Damascus, just how scared would you be?

2. If you were the driver of the cab, why didn't you just take the licence plate number and call the police?

3. Could all of this have been avoided if the cab driver hadn't armed himself with with something?

4. Can the cab driver be charged with assault / attempted damage to property and even causation of the situation?

Obviously none of us know enough about the situation to answer these questions properly, and the violence about getting the correct insurance information really is a 1st world problem. However, it does bring to mind an excellent advert that we used to be shown in the UK in the 80's:

What are your thoughts?

Losing Weight The Easy Way

As anyone who knows me will tell you when describing your humble Jumblerant blogger, 'he ain't no skinny'.

Recently I have gotten into a good workout routine, gym 3-5 days a week, and not just for the free hot showers!Weights and jogging are my thing, more weights, than jogging as I have never really been a runner. I have good friends who do triathlons and even Iron Man events.

Triathlon races vary in distance. According to the International Triathlon Union, and USA Triathlon, the main international race distances are:
  1. Sprint Distance; 750 meter (.465 mi) swim, 20 kilometer (12.5 mi) bike, 5 kilometer (3.1 mi) run
  2. Intermediate (or Standard) distance; commonly referred to as the "Olympic distance": 1.5 kilometer (.93 mi) swim, 40 kilometer (25 mi) bike, 10 kilometer (6.2 mi) run
  3. Long Course; commonly referred to as 70.3 or the 'half-Ironman'; 1.9 kilometer (1.2 mi) swim, 90 kilometer (56 mi) bike, and a 21.1 kilometer (13.1 mi) run
  4. Ultra Distance; commonly referred to as 140.6 or the 'Ironman'; 3.8 kilometer (2.4 mi) swim, 180.2 kilometer (112 mi) bike, and a full marathon: 42.2 kilometer (26.2 mi) run.

As a result of all of my friends getting healthy / working out their mid life crises, I was very happy to see that one of my favourite authors and bloggers - Bayou Renaissance Man - had a new fitness video up on his site.

Enjoy!!

More Pomplamoose Musical Magic

The chaps over at Pomplamoose have made some great music videos in the past, and yet again they have bested themselves. Their latest offering isn't an action grabbing extravaganza like OkGo's ghillie suit clad trombonists, and yet it is memorable in it's own way.

What impresses me most is not actually the music, which in itself is great, but it is the talent, artistry and forward thinking that goes into the video.

I Do Not Have Clinophobia

Yes, it is true, I do not have Clinophobia, the fear of going to bed. In fact I very much have the opposite, a strong desire to go to bed. Often.

I also do not have:

Didaskaleinophobia- Fear of going to school

Enosiophobia or Enissophobia- Fear of having committed an unpardonable sin or of criticism
Francophobia- Fear of France or French culture
Geumophobia- Fear of taste
Homichlophobia- Fear of fog
Iophobia- Fear of poison
Judeophobia- Fear of Jews
Kymophobia- Fear of waves
Lockiophobia- Fear of childbirth
Microphobia- Fear of small things

But there doesn't seem to be a cute little word for my greatest fear, but now there is a video:

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
And pictures: Yes, my fear is of having an airplane crash whilst parachuting. What's your greatest fear? Answers in the comments please kthanxbai! Jumblerant

Game of Thrones v Star Wars

As I stated in my last post, Star Wars Blooper Reel, I am a big fan of George Lucas' work. From the numerous Game of Thrones posts that Jumblerant has published in the last couple of years, there is no doubt that I am also a big GoT fan!

Game of Thrones + Simpsons

So I'm a  Star Wars fan and a a Game of Thrones fan. So these just made my day:

Star Wars Blooper Reel

As a youth growing up in suburban London in the '80s I adored Luke Skywalker and his merry gang of inter-galactic cowboys. It was only later in life that I found out just how great an actor Sir Alec Guinness was, and have watched all of his movies and TV shows.

In fact, when I read Sir Alec's autobiography I was surprised to hear him talk about Star Wars as just another role, in fact he was doing it more as a favour or for pocket money, more than as another step on the ladder to success. According to WikiPedia

"In letters to his friends, Guinness described the film as "fairy tale rubbish," but the film's sense of moral good – and the studio's doubling of his initial salary offer – appealed to him, and he signed on".
I'm not so sure of the validity of that quote, but I might also have rose-tinted glasses to Sir Alec.

He had already made such amazing and varied career, which began before the Second World War, playing opposite such greats as Peggy Ashcroft, Anthony Quayle and of course, the King of Theatre - John Gielgud.

Some of Sir Alec's films include The Lavender Hill Mob, The Lady Killers, The Man in the White Suit, Our Man in Havana, The Bridge on the River Kwai (for which eh won an Academy Award), Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago and of course, in 1977, Star Wars.

There is a new blooper reel floating around now. I'm not sure how 'new' it is, but it is fun to watch even Sir Alec get a smile from such an intricate and complicated project.

YouTube Music Awards - A Surprising Winner

I love all things Google, thats why this blog is written on Blogger and in Chrome. I won't say that everything they do is amazing, like any multinational organisation they have their good points, and their not so good points.

The latest thing to come out of YouTube is their Music Awards. Instead of pressing a button to vote, or submitting your email address, they have chosen a much better way. Tweets, likes and G+s.

Very simple. You like an artist? Tweet, FaceBook 'like' or Google+ the YouTube Music Video of them.

Nice.

I voted for her majesty the Katy of Perry for she is funny, gorgeous, voluptuous and a real person.

So I was happy to see that a hospital had done a cover of her latest single 'Roar'. And it rocked:

See if you can keep your eyes dry through that!
